BLUEPRINT FOR CHANGE

Miracles and mysteries unfold around us every moment, the genius of nature at work. Beyond what the eye can see lies a world of transformation, resilience, and wisdom. The imaginal cells within a caterpillar carry the blueprint for its future as a butterfly. As the old form dissolves in the chrysalis, these cells recognize one another, align, and work together to create something entirely new.

This process is both a biological marvel and a powerful metaphor. In a time of ecological and societal breakdown, we must find those operating on the same frequency, those who seek restoration, balance, and reciprocity with the natural world. Biomimicry teaches us that nature holds the answers; plants and organisms are our greatest mentors.

This series explores the hidden transformations occurring in our environment, monarch and swallowtail chrysalises, the unseen forces of renewal, and the urgency of ecological preservation.

Through art, I invite viewers to look closer, to honor the smallest of creatures, and to rethink our relationship with the land. Instead of asking what we can take, we must ask: What can we grow?

Artistic Vision

Nature as Genius / Biomimicry

  • This series honors the unseen intelligence and transformations happening in the natural world, where miracles unfold in silence.

Metaphor

  • Inspired by imaginal cells in a chrysalis, it reflects how destruction can be the precursor to radical renewal.

Call for Connection

  • In a time of ecological unraveling, we must realign with the rhythms and reciprocity of nature. A time to slow down and be present.

Reverence through Attention

  • By looking closer, we honor overlooked life forms, especially insects, and learn how to live in harmony rather than dominance.

Art as Inquiry

  • Each piece asks: What can we learn from nature’s systems?

  • How can we co-create a future rooted in restoration?

[This series is a work in progress. Inspired and learning from mother nature, Doug Tallamy, Robin Wall Kimmerer, Janine Benyus and the experts at the Biomimicry Institute.]
